Máscara del Conquistador (Conquistador Mask), Carlos Colín, Ink on paper, 11" x 14", framed $600

Original size is 433 × 595 pixels

The conquistadors did not need to use masks. The interpretations, myths, and legends by the Pre Hispanic cultures were sufficient to make possible his image in the form of a mask. The drawing is the severed head of the conquistador. The drawing shows how the coloniser’s true intentions are essentially unmasked.
