Celebrity of Being Anonymouse (detail), Carollyne Yardley, Oil on wood panel, 40" x 60", $6,900

Original size is 600 × 383 pixels

The gorgeous, purple, satin, multi-coloured sequin ESCADA jacket depicted in this work was a one-off piece from the ESCADA Collection of 1980. The inspiration for the design of this jacket came from the art of Salvador Dali. It was designed by ESCADA’s founder, Margareta Ley. Originally from Sweden, Margareta always designed in bright, bold, and daring themes. She believed, because Swedish winters are so long, dreary, and depressing, your clothes should always be bright and cheerful to offset the gloom of long winter days. She eventually moved to Munich, where this piece was designed. Germany is the base country for all of the original ESCADA clothing.
