Tsonoqua or Dzunuk’wa is the Kwakwaka’wakw name for the myth of the Wild Woman of the woods. She is a female monster with wide eyes, big breasts, a beard, and generally she is very hairy. She holds great physical and spiritual strength, so much so that she is believed to be able to raise the dead. Dzunuk’wa feasts on the flesh of humans and is said to create lighting with her extremely loud voice.
