Beau Dick: “DRAMA”

Fazakas Gallery, 688 E Hastings St., Vancouver, BC
Oct 17 – Nov 7, 2015

Beau Dick is a Kwakwaka’wakw First Nations artist from Northern Vancouver Island. He is known for the production of elaborate dance masks, and other forms of cultural art used in performance/ceremony. While this exhibition focuses on these pieces, it also presents a broader range of his work, including: sketches, drawings, photography and a 4′ wide bronze sculpture.

This exhibition showcases the range of works that the artist produces, but also explores the unique cultural perspective of a man who, in recent years, has become known for his political activism.
