This mask represent the Sky World, which is both mythological and physical. It is where the Sun, Moon and stars reside. These physical objects are imbued with human characteristics and are considered beings rather than objects. They play important roles in oral histories of the people of the coast. In this case, Sky (Mok-oa’nts) himself is depicted. He holds the Sun, Moon and stars as well as Thunderbird and the ravens, within his realm. As the chief caretaker of all these things, he is extremely powerful and important.
