Corey Bulpitt (Haida)

Red cedar, cedar bark, acrylic, rabbit fur, fox fur

13″ x 16″ x 17″ (including horns and ears, not including fur)

“This piece was loosely based on an older Haida masterpiece. I adze textured the main surfaces to give it an appearance that I thought worked well with the piece. I originally carved it at a residence at Haida House in Haida Gwaii with a chunk of cedar which I brought to work on. The mountain goat was often a spiritual helper for shaman and also a respected animal who’s wool was used in weaving naaxin robes, aprons, leggings, headpieces etc.” – Corey Bulpitt
