Private collection of Corey Bulpitt.
These masks from Corey’s personal collection highlight the presence and influence that Beau continues to have in his life and practice. Beau completed Bookwus around 2006, a striking example of his use of various materials in mask-making. Corey watched Beau’s style as he fingerpainted the turquoise around the mask’s eyes, hammered in the round copper, cut the rigidly shaped nose bridge, and used leather for one of the first times.
Shortly after noticing the Tsonoqua mask’s metallic colour, he purchased the mask along with the Crying Baby, which are more traditional styles of mask.
