“Traditionally moons are portrayed with labrettes to show that they are feminine. I wanted to create a moon with a face that had feminine qualities without the need for a labrette. This was originally carved from yellow cedar. It was my first attept in carving a mask. I chose to do this addition of 12 masks in a white resin because I like the look of the simple clean lines in modern art, also to make it light and easy to use in a shadow box frame.”
