Jason Baerg's solo exhibition, Rooted Synergy: Exploring Radical Indigenous Love, consists of a new body of work that showcases the artist's ongoing material experimentation on abstraction, the interplay of forms, and Indigenous futuristic symbols. Using innovative painting techniques, Baerg unflattens canvas surfaces into embodied spatial relations, interlacing ancestral elements into a fabric of new material possibilities.

Artist Statement:
In the Indigenous Radical Love painting series, Jason Baerg explores the south quadrant of the Cree medicine wheel, activating the essence of red, earth metal, and the energy of summer. The artworks invite viewers to embrace the transformative power of love, sparking radical change within Indigenous communities and fostering collective healing, acceptance, and inclusion. Vibrant red hues symbolize the passion and vitality that love embodies, igniting unity and understanding. The incorporation of earth metal elements deepens our connection to the land, emphasizing reciprocity with nature. Through this series, Baerg celebrates the strength and resilience of Indigenous cultures, inspiring conversations and actions that challenge harmful narratives and nurture a more equitable and compassionate world. Join the journey of Indigenous Radical Love, where each painting is a testament to the power of love, leading us towards a future grounded in unity and transformative potential.

Jason Baerg is a Cree-Métis curator, educator, and visual artist. As an artist, he pushes new boundaries in digital interventions in drawing, painting, and new media installation. Often through means of visual abstraction, Baerg's projects work with various themes such as language, the Anthropocene, and Indigenous connections to land and the environment.
