Contemporary Northwest Coast and Cross-Cultural Art Dealer
Fazakas Gallery was founded in 2012 with the goal of establishing an inclusive exhibition space through the presentation and promotion of contemporary Northwest Coast Indigenous art and cross-cultural works within one cohesive venue. The gallery features a diverse selection of both established and emerging contemporary artists. As a commercial gallery, we endeavour to foster strong, lasting relationships with the artists we represent as we strive to promote the development of their careers over time. We aim to be at the forefront of inclusivity of Indigenous art into the contemporary lexicon, while also facilitating a larger discussion of cultural and historical contexts. The gallery believes in the importance of critical analysis, promotion, and exhibition of Indigenous contemporary art.
We offer a comprehensive approach to helping clients build their portfolio, while reviewing existing collections to identify ways of bringing such work to a broader audience.
Whatever your artistic process or stylistic approach, Fazakas Gallery can help you develop both a rationale and a set of objectives for your project that is unique to your needs. Additionally, we provide talks and presentations for our corporate clients in order to foster a deeper understanding of art collecting and curation.
Owner LaTiesha Fazakas
LaTiesha Fazakas specialized in Northwest Coast Native Art while completing her degree in Art History at the University of British Columbia. During this time, she became an art dealer in a traditional Northwest Coast Art gallery. After a decade spent pushing that gallery to the next level, LaTiesha decided to break off and create a more progressive gallery space. Her previous experience gave her the tools to establish Fazakas Gallery, an inclusive space that takes a curatorial approach and specializes in Northwest Coast and cross-cultural contemporary works.
Her expertise in curating has enhanced hundreds of collections worldwide. LaTiesha is responsible for many successful group and solo exhibitions. In 2017 LaTiesha was the Beau Dick curatorial coordinator for his participation in the international exhibition documenta 14 in Athens, Greece and Kassel, Germany.
LaTiesha has also ventured into film, first as a Consultant for Tornado Mountain Pictures’ “Savage Nights” (UK Film) and now as a writer, director and producer of the documentary film, Maker of Monsters: The Extraordinary Life of Beau Dick.
