Nets is a sculpture installation that brings together fishing nets and chain link fencing, using the visual similarities of these two objects to connect themes that have been historically important in Fort Qu’Appelle. Fishing nets reference the nearby ‘fishing lakes’ and traditional uses of the land, and also the artist's own experiences harvesting fish in his home community. Furthermore, nets are also used to build settlements - a tool of colonization. Nets is therefore an acknowledgement of history and a reflection of how this history impacts our present and future.
