Artist statement:
Traditionally, Moons are portrayed with labrets to show that they are feminine. I wanted to create a moon with a face that had feminine qualities without the need for a labret. This was originally carved from yellow cedar. It was my first attempt at carving a mask. I chose to do this edition of 12 masks in a white resin because I like the look of the simple, clean lines in modern art. Also to make it light and easy to use in a shadow box frame.
