The Sewing Crew consists of ten pieces of hockey tape and leather that were used by the artist in her beading and sewing process. These ephemeral objects provide us with visual evidence of the labour required to produce the beadwork featured throughout the exhibition, underscored further by their worn-in appearance and patina. Almost like relics or curios, these objects have an archival function that speaks to the physical nature of the artistic practice and the toll it takes on the body, while also serving as a tangible memorial to the creation of her most recent body of work.
