Artist Talk: Jean Paul Langlois with Daina Warren: Fazakas Gallery, 659 East Hastings St, Vancouver, BC
Fazakas Gallery is pleased to present an artist talk with exhibiting artist Jean Paul Langlois and Indigenous art curator Daina Warren at the gallery on Saturday, November 29th from 2-4 PM. The conversation will delve into Langlois’ solo exhibition War and Peace, and Smoky the Cowhorse, on view until December 19th.
Based in East Vancouver, Langlois explores the intersection of his Métis and Scottish settler heritages through vibrant pop-culture motifs and ultra-saturated colour schemes. This exhibition brings together works from across his current projects, reflecting on family history, personal mythology, and the complexity of identity.
Daina Warren is an Indigenous curator and artist from the Montana Cree First Nation. Warren serves as the Executive Director of Indigenous Initiatives at Emily Carr University of Art and Design and has built an extensive career dedicated to supporting and promoting Indigenous artists across North America.
This event offers an opportunity to hear directly from Langlois and Warren as they discuss the narratives, histories, and creative processes that inform Langlois' practice. Fazakas Gallery invites guests to join us for an engaging and thought-provoking conversation into how contemporary Indigenous art continues to challenge, expand, and redefine cultural perspectives.
