Trevor Angus
61 cm
Painted in vivid blues and defined by bold black formline, these works reflect Trevor Angus’s refined Northwest Coast design sensibility, shaped through his Gitxsan training at the Gitanmaax School of Northwest Coast Art. The circular hummingbird panel uses its rounded format to frame the bird in a harmonious, balanced composition, where the eye and beak emerge through flowing ovoids and U-forms, and cobalt blue intensifies the warmth of exposed cedar. The eagle paddle, rendered in turquoise, nods to canoe culture and coastal travel, balancing ceremonial presence with contemporary precision.
