Kahneeokeesikopanis, meaning 'Four Sky Thunder' in Plains Cree, is a work created in honour of noise, power, and the energy we transfer between bodies. Inspired by the practices of traditional Cree tattooing and named after a previous owner of the Cree tattooing bundle, the artist is interested in hands and how they can work as a conduit between ourselves and ways of healing. The boxing gloves act as a protector, while the act of boxing refers to the body moving, and dancing. This imagery of dancing is mirrored by the copper jingles which are activated through movement. There are many meaningful relationships and dualities within this work, but above all, Kahneeokeesikpanis is here to heal and help in our journeys.
